Product Policies

Delivery: Delivery is by Royal Mail post or courier (FedEx or DPD). Estimated transit times are shown for each available delivery option. Our UK delivery partners are generally very reliable, but occasionally delivery can take longer than the stated time.

Delivery cost is based on your order weight, and we aim to keep this cost as low as possible. Exact prices are listed in the dropdown menu above.

We aim to dispatch orders the same day, if placed before 1pm. Orders placed after this time may not be dispatched until the following working day.

Returns: In the unfortunate event that your order arrives damaged, faulty or incorrect, then please contact us to arrange return. We will advise how to return the goods to us and we will cover the cost of this. We will offer you the choice of either a replacement or refund.

If you wish to return the goods for any other reason then please contact us in writing or by email within 14 days of receiving your order. The goods must be returned in a re-saleable condition, and in the case of personal items such as grounding sheets, bands or patches, these must be unused. You will have to cover the cost of returning the goods to us. Upon receipt of the returned goods, we will issue a refund.

Returns relating to business to business sales (i.e. wholesale orders) will be subject to a 10% restocking fee.

Why Grounding is Important

In the past century, we've lost an essential element for our well-being: our natural electrical connection to the Earth. Modern materials like rubber-soled shoes and insulated living spaces keep us disconnected from this vital energy.

As the Earth is a vast reservoir of free electrons, when disconnected, our bodies struggle to neutralize electron-deficient harmful free radicals. Grounding, or earthing, restores this natural electrical balance by providing these missing free electrons. 

Grounding can be as simple as walking barefoot outside on grass/sand/soil or swimming in the sea, but it’s not always practical in daily life. Foods rich in antioxidants and living water help but are not as powerful as directly connecting with the earth.

Grounding products like sheets, mats or bands are therefore designed to make it easy to stay connected to the Earth’s energy indoors, providing a simple and convenient solution for modern living.

As well as being disconnected from the earth, in today’s world, we are surrounded by electromagnetic field radiation (EMF) from devices like computers, phones, WiFi, and electrical appliances. This radiation induces voltages in our bodies, disrupting our natural electrical signals, which are crucial for bodily functions.

Grounding reduces these induced voltages, using the Earth’s large electrical mass to shield us from EMF interference. This video demonstrates this effect:

Benefits of Grounding

Grounding often brings an immediate sense of well-being, reducing stress, promoting calmness, and sometimes alleviating pain. Those sensitive to EMF from electrical devices frequently report a feeling of relief after grounding.

Grounding products have been linked to various scientifically supported health benefits, including:

Cardiovascular Health: Grounding has demonstrated positive effects on cardiovascular health, especially through the reduction of blood viscosity, a major factor in heart disease. Studies by Dr Gaétan Chevalier and Dr Stephen Sinatra among others from 2012 and 2015 showed that grounding thins and separates blood cells, improving blood flow.

In one of the studies, blood samples were taken before and after grounding therapy. On the left are darkfield microscope images of blood taken from three individuals just before and on the right are images taken forty minutes after grounding. The pictures clearly show a dramatic thinning and decoupling of the blood cells.

You can also see the results of some similar blood tests which were performed on some volunteers live during the Longevity Now Conference 2010.

Reduced Inflammation and Pain Relief: Grounding has been found to significantly reduce chronic inflammation and pain. A study in 2015 demonstrated improved inflammation and blood flow after just one hour of grounding. Oschman et al., (2015) showed that grounding an organism produces measurable differences in the concentrations of white blood cells, cytokines, and other molecules that had beneficial long-term effects on the prevention and treatment of chronic inflammatory conditions and autoimmune diseases. Another early study (Ober, 2003) showed reduced chronic pain linked to inflammation in subjects after grounding.

Improved Sleep and Stress Reduction: Several studies link grounding with enhanced sleep quality and stress reduction. A pilot study in 2022 on Alzheimer's patients reported better sleep quality after grounding, while Ghaly & Teplitz (2004) measured lower cortisol levels during night-time grounding on a conductive mattress, and a reduction or elimination of self-reported symptoms of sleep dysfunction, stress and pain. Grounding was also shown to reduce anxiety-like behaviors in rats (Park et al., 2023), suggesting it modulates stress responses.

Enhanced Recovery and Physical Performance: Grounding has been shown to aid muscle recovery. A study by Müller et al., 2019 found that grounded sleeping reduced muscle damage after intensive exercise, while a 2015 study observed faster recovery from moderate muscle contractions. Similarly, an earlier study by Brown et al., (2010) on delayed-onset muscle soreness found accelerated recovery among grounded participants.

Improved Immune Function and Wound Healing: Oschman et al., (2015) identified grounding as a potential modulator of immune responses, helping to speed up wound healing and reduce inflammation. These effects were further supported in a 2022 study discussing the benefits of grounding as an anti-inflammatory remedy.

Enhanced Autonomic Nervous System Function: Grounding has been found to improve autonomic nervous system balance. A 2011 study reported better heart rate variability (HRV), indicating improved autonomic tone and stress resilience. This was reinforced by Passi et al., (2017) who found improved vagal tone in preterm infants who were grounded.

Positive Effects on Mental and Emotional Well-being: Grounding has also shown psychological benefits. A 2023 study noted improvements in meditation quality, reporting enhanced calmness and focus. Additionally, studies from 2015 demonstrated mood improvements and reduced emotional stress when subjects were grounded.

Reduced Electromagnetic Field (EMF) Stress: Grounding helps neutralize the effects of electromagnetic fields (EMFs), which can disrupt biological processes. Studies from chevalier (2009) and Brown (2016) observed reductions in body voltage when grounded, which mitigated EMF-induced stress on the body.

Support for COVID-19 Treatment: Preliminary studies in 2022 suggested grounding could be a supportive therapy in preventing and treating COVID-19, potentially due to its immune-modulating and anti-inflammatory effects.

These studies collectively highlight grounding's broad range of benefits, including reduced inflammation, improved sleep, recovery, cardiovascular health, mental well-being, and reduced EMF stress.

Product FAQ

Is grounding via domestic mains the same as using an external grounding rod?

Yes. In fact a modern domestic electrical system has just such a grounding rod buried in the ground (usually just outside the house). This grounding rod is connected via the domestic wiring system to the earth pin on every mains socket.

Is it safe to ground myself via a domestic electrical outlet?

Yes, absolutely. The systems we sell have a built in protection resistance which makes them completely safe. In the very unlikely event that a mains socket was mis-wired, the protection resistance would limit the current to a safe level and prevent a noticeable electric shock. Obviously if a mains socket was mis-wired then you would not be grounded, and so we recommend the use of a socket tester if you have doubt about the state of your mains wiring.

For how long do I need to stay grounded to feel the benefits?

There is no simple answer to this as everybody is different. Many people do feel an immediate benefit when grounded, and even physical symptoms such as inflammation and pain can show improvement within minutes. However, in general we would say that the more time you can spend grounded the better. Ideally, use grounding equipment (such as a grounding band or mat) whenever is practical, and particularly when near powerful electrical equipment such as a computer. Grounding while sleeping is important: not only do you spend a large proportion of your time sleeping, this is also the time when regeneration takes place and the body is most receptive to healing.

Is it ok to combine grounding with medication / alternative medicine / complementary therapies?

Grounding is as natural as walking barefoot on the Earth, but of course we would always advise that you consult a medical doctor. If you are taking blood thinning medication, then be aware that grounding can also reduce blood viscosity.

Do you have any testimonials from people who have used your products?

While we do have a large collection of feedback emails from our customers, we have been advised that legally we are not allowed to share any kind of testimonial that claims treatment or cure of a medical condition (which covers most of the feedback we have). Therefore I would have to recommend you search the internet for forums, etc. where people share their experiences of grounding. When grounding via a mains outlet, does the socket need to be switched on?

No. The socket earth is always connected, whether the socket is switched on or not. Conversely it doesn't matter if the socket is turned on, since there is no connection to the live pins.

Can I plug the grounding plug into a mains extension lead?

Yes, provided it is an earthed extension lead, and correctly wired, then this will work fine.

Can I use the grounding products in another country with a mains adaptor?

You can, but be sure that the mains adaptor is the type where the earth/ground pin is actually connected. Many travel adaptors do not have a proper earth connection and so you would not be grounded if using one. We recommend purchasing a travel adaptor which can be used in any country. 

I've seen similar products used in the electronics industry for electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection. Can I use these for grounding?

Yes, you can, and they will have some benefit. However such systems have quite a large resistance built in which dampens the effect of the grounding, specifically the induced voltages in the body due to EMF are not reduced so effectively with such systems. The equipment we sell is designed for lowest ground resistance, while still being safe to connect via a mains electrical outlet.

Typically, ESD equipment has 1 MegaOhm resistance per component in the system, and so generally a complete system will have at least 2 MegaOhm (2000 KiloOhm) resistance (e.g. a plug plus a cord).  Additionally, ESD equipment is often dissipative rather than fully conductive, which adds further resistance.  Our systems are manufactured with a total resistance of 100 KiloOhm, a much lower resistance, and all our equipment is fully conductive, not dissipative.

How long do the grounding mats last?

The Grounding Mats should last many years provided they are not cleaned with anything abrasive or with strong chemicals. If cleaning is needed, wipe with a soft cloth and mild soapy water. As they get older, we would recommend to test occasionally with a conductivity tester. As well as checking the conductive surface of the mat, testing also verifies that no internal damage has occurred to the connection wire.

How long do the grounding bands last?

If in daily use, and with occasional washing, we recommend replacing grounding bands yearly to ensure optimal conductive function.

Occasionally washing should be done by hand in warm water, with mild liquid soap. Avoid detergents which contain bleaching or whitening agents, or other strong chemicals.

How long do the grounding sheets last?

The conductive life of the sheets will vary depending on factors such as skin type, skin products used, washing detergent, washing method, etc.

Typically the sheets have a conductive life of around 2 to 3 years.

This is due to a natural oxidation process that occurs on the silver thread, in response to the factors listed above. Inappropriate washing, etc. may shorten the conductive life.

In order to obtain the longest life from your sheet, be sure to follow the washing and usage instructions. This includes washing the sheet regularly (every week or two if in nightly use). You will not extend the life of your sheet by not washing so often. In fact, this can be harmful, as it allows the body oils and other organic deposits to build up on the silver thread. It is very important to avoid detergents containing bleach or whitening agents, as these will drastically reduce the conductive life.

The simplest way to test if your sheet is still working ok, is to use a conductivity tester.
We recommend testing occasionally once your sheet is around 2 years old.

 

How do I wash and clean Groundology products?

It is good to wash your grounding product. It will not be harmed by washing, in fact it is beneficial. Washing strips body sweat and natural skin oils from the silver keeping it conductive.

DOs
    Wash every week or two
    Wash in a washing machine with warm water (40°C / 105°F)
    Use a liquid laundry detergent (this detergent is our specific recommendation)
    Line dry or dry in a dryer on low (up to 65°C / 150°F)
    Can be ironed on a low heat if desired

DON'Ts
    Don't wash with bleach
    Don't wash with fabric softeners
    Don't use whitening detergents, oxi-detergents
    Don't use detergents with strong fragrances (either chemical or essential oil based)
    Don't use dryer sheet fabric softeners
    Don't dry clean

Bleach, lotions and oils can tarnish the silver rendering it non-conductive.  Fabric softener builds up on the silver and will eventually ruin its conductive properties.  Please also check/clean the detergent drawer of your washing machine for residues of other detergents, since many detergents (particularly powders) contain whitening agents which will harm the silver, even in small quantities.

It is advised to wait one hour to use the product after applying oils or lotions to the skin.

Can you recommend which washing detergents are suitable for Earthing sheets?

Our specific recommendation is Greenscents Laundry Liquid, Nonscents (unscented)

We've also had good experience with Bio-D Laundry Liquid (fragrance free), and there are other suitable washing detergents out there.

Generally it's best to use simple liquid soaps, containing no additives that could potentially be harmful to the silver. With gentle detergents such as these, it's best to wash at 40°C (not lower). Use a synthetics programme which will avoid the highest spin speeds. Wash regularly (at least every week or two).

Here is a list of what to avoid in your washing detergent for maximum life of the sheets:

• Fabric conditioner (built-in or separate).
• Bleaching/whitening agents: Chlorine based (Sodium hypochlorite, Calcium hypochlorite, etc.) or Peroxide/Oxygen based (Hydrogen peroxide, Sodium percarbonate, Sodium perborate, etc.).
• Strong fragrances (chemical or essential oil based).

Note: Please also check/clean the detergent drawer of your washing machine for residues of other detergents, since many detergents (particularly powders) contain whitening agents which will harm the silver, even in small quantities.
